It is our goal to preserve “The Old Tavern” of Burlington, along with the history and many artifacts of the Burlington area and her residents. This history is housed in four buildings along Burlington's Main Road. In addition to the antique furniture, appliances and items of daily work and living there are many old photographs, scrapbooks, newspaper clipping and town reports available to browse or study.
Alongside our physical museums, the Society has books regarding Burlington and Lowell's histories for sale. Please reach out via email if you would like to purchase a copy for your personal collection. The cost will be $25 per book.
The members of the historical society meet at the tavern on the first Tuesday evening of each month from May through October. We’d love to see more people from Burlington or with ties to the area join us, to support the Stewart Lord Historical Society fi0nancially, or physically, or both. Won’t you consider being a part of preserving the past for the future? E-mail if you’d like more information, or attend the next meeting as a guest. You can also stop by the museum some Sunday afternoon to learn more about our local history, or for more information about joining.
Membership donation of $5 suggested, but not required.
